Anthony Clarke - Managing Director

Anthony Clarke

Anthony is the co-founder and CEO of Angel Capital Group which includes London Business Angels where he has the role of Managing Director.

Anthony qualified as a Chartered Accountant and Chartered Secretary with Deloitte Haskins & Sells (now PWC) in 1980. Thereafter, he worked on a full time basis as Finance Director and Chief Executive of a number of privately owned SME companies and since 1995 he has been a business angel investor/non-executive director of over 20 start-up/early stage businesses. Between 2002 and 2009 Anthony was Managing Director of GLE Growth Capital and also sat on the main Board of GLE.

Anthony has been involved with London Business Angels for over 15 years and took on the role of MD of LBA when it became part of GLE Growth Capital in 2002. He is also a co-founder and currently sits on the advisory Board of the UK’s first Enterprise Capital Fund, Seraphim Capital. He has been Chairman of the British Business Angels Association (BBAA) since 2004 and is President Emeritus of European Business Angels Network (EBAN). Anthony also sits on the Venture Capital Committee of the BVCA.

Jenny Tooth - Director

Jenny is co-founder and Director of Angel Capital group which includes London Business Angels of which she is a Director.

Jenny has 20 years experience supporting business growth and access to finance both in the UK and Europe and ran her own consultancy business, advising on finance and innovation. She spent nine years in Brussels between 1990 and 1999, working closely with the European Commission.

Jenny worked with GLE on a consultancy basis from 2000-2006, supporting a range of access to finance projects. She took on the full time role of Business Development Director of GLE Growth Capital between 2006-2009 focusing on investment readiness, high growth coaching and access to investment for SMEs, including developing new cross-border investment opportunities.

Jenny is currently Managing Director of Angel Capital Innovations, part of the ACG group, focusing on policy and innovative approaches to growth and investment and currently supporting the roll out of three innovative access to investment projects focusing on ICT, Mobile services and nano technologies. Jenny has also provided strategic and business development support to the British Business Angels Association since 2004. She has a first degree in French and Italian and an MSc in Economics from London School of Economics and Political Science.

Alexander Sleigh - Network Co-Ordinator and Analyst

Alex is the Network Co-Ordinator and an Analyst for Angel Capital Group which includes the LBA network.

Alex plays a key role in the sourcing and assessment of investment opportunities. He then works closely with the selected entrepreneurs in preparation for each Company Presentation Event, and beyond as they look to secure funding. Further responsibilities include management of investor relations, communications, marketing, events and administration for the whole of ACG.

Alex holds a MA (Hons) in Economics and Modern History from the University of St. Andrews, and a Masters in Management from the Vlerick Leuven Ghent Management School. Alex joined ACG from Jendens Securities where he worked as a junior TMT analyst.

John May - Non Executive Director

John May

John May is the managing partner of New Vantage Group (“NVG”), a Vienna, Virginia-based firm that innovatively mobilizes private equity capital into early-stage companies. NVG organized and administers four regional angel investor groups and was a founding member of the Angel Capital Association. He is the author of two books on angel investing, has lectured in over 20 countries, and is a lead instructor of the Power of Angel Investing seminar series. He is an investment director and general partner of UK-based Seraphim Capital, chair-emeritus of the Angel Capital Association, is a “Batten Fellow” at the University of Virginia’s Darden Business School, and is co-chair of the World Business Angels Association.

Geoffrey Chamberlain - Non Executive Director

Geoffrey Chamberlain

Geoffrey Chamberlain graduated in Commerce and Economics from Manchester University in 1963. He became a member of the London Stock Exchange in 1968. He founded and became Chairman of the London Traded Options Market from 1987 to 1992. He was a member of the Council of the International Stock Exchange and president of the International Association of Options and Futures Exchanges and Deputy Chairman of the European Community Options and Futures Exchanges. Geoffrey is also the author of Trading in Options first published by Simon & Schuster Int. in 1981.

He was Chief Operating Officer of European Equities and Derivatives at Shearson Lehman Hutton before being appointed Chairman and Chief Executive Officer LIT Europe in 1991.Thereafter Geoffrey Chamberlain was a founder before becoming Chairman and Chief Executive of Durlacher Corporation Plc, an original research driven, European emerging technology, media investment and securities group. The main areas of business included; emerging technology and media research, consulting, specialist corporate finance and stockbroking. He built Durlacher Plc into a FTSE 250 Company in the early 2000s capped at £2billion. Geoffrey is a Freeman City of London and has also been a Non Executive Director of London Seed Capital since 2002

Daniel Gardner - Operations Associate

Daniel is Operations Associate at Angel Capital Group. Daniel plays a key role at Angel Capital Innovations, part of the ACG group, focusing on policy and innovative approaches to growth and investment. This includes acting as General Manager to the British Business Angels Association (BBAA), the industry's trade body, representing the interests of early stage investors to government and encouraging best practice.

Daniel holds a BSc (Hons) in Biology and an MSc in International Business from Nottingham University. He carried out his thesis into Capital Structures of European Private Equity deals over the period of the 2007 financial crisis and achieved a distinction. He subsequently went on to work as an analyst at the Centre for Management Buy-Out Research and then Newedge Group prior to joining ACG.
